Week 3: God’s Love for Us

Scripture: 1 John 4:7-12
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." — 1 John 4:7-8

Devotional:

Love is not just an emotion—it is the very nature of God. John reminds us that God Himself is the source of love, and He demonstrated this love by sending His Son, Jesus, to die for us. This love is not earned but freely given. It is sacrificial, unchanging, and unconditional.

As recipients of God’s love, we are called to extend that love to others. This means loving not just when it’s easy, but also when it’s difficult. True love reflects God’s character—patient, kind, and selfless (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). When we understand how deeply God loves us, it changes how we love ourselves and those around us.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for loving me unconditionally. Help me to fully embrace Your love so that I may extend it to others. Teach me to love not just with words but with actions, reflecting Your heart in my relationships. Amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what ways have you experienced God’s love in your life?
  2. Do you struggle with accepting God’s unconditional love? Why or why not?
  3. Who in your life needs to experience God’s love through you this week?
